I wrote this as part of an assignment for Systematic Theology II.
Listen to audio

When I walked through the valley alone and afraid,
shaken, and hurt, and confused,
Why Lord, why, did You lead me there?
Why did I suffer those wounds?

When the weight of the shadow was crushing my soul,
caught in darkness and sin and disgrace,
I begged You to lift up my shattered heart,
Sought strength to believe in Your name.

When I cried out from my knees,
with desperate pleas,
Oh Father, take this cup from me –
You left it in my hands,
but gave me strength to stand,
as I struggled you helped me bear the strain.

While I wouldn’t have chosen what You chose for me,
I cling to the powerful truth,
Though I face trials of many kinds,
I share in my suffering with you.

Let my life be a story of how you redeem,
our sin and our troubles and shame,
I am bearing the cost, I will carry my cross,
Glorify yourself through my pain,
Glorify yourself through my pain.

Old hymnals are a great source of texts, and they are readily available if you make a visit to ebay.
They are also good for devotional times.

Hear and Answer Prayer

Listen (.mp3)

VERSE 1
I am praying blessed Savior
to be more and more like thee,
I am praying that thy Spirit
like a Dove may rest on me.

CHORUS
Lord You know all my weakness,
Lord You know every care,
While I plead each precious promise,
Hear oh Lord and answer prayer.

VERSE 2
I am praying blessed Savior,
For a faith so clear and bright
that it’s eye will see thy glory,
through the deepest darkest night

CHORUS

VERSE 3
I am praying to be humbled
by the pow’r of grace divine,
to be clothed with all your meekness,
and to have no will but thine.

CHORUS

VERSE 4
I am praying blessed Savior,
and my constant prayer shall be,
for a perfect consecration,
that shall make me more like thee.

CHORUS x2

CHORUS
For God so loved the world He gave His only Son,
That whoever believes in Him, Will not perish,
For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son,
That whoever believes in Him, Will have eternal life.

VERSE 1
Men of faith looked forward to Christ’s coming,
Believing in the promise yet unseen,
their faith was being sure of what they hoped for,
trusting in what God would soon reveal.

VERSE2
We look back upon our Saviors coming,
Believing in the truth and mystery,
Christ became our sin and suffered for us,
He died, He rose, He claimed our victory.

VERSE 3
We rejoice upon our Savior’s coming,
The Word in flesh revealing truth to man,
Through Him we live and breathe and have salvation,
Through Him we are restored to God again.

VERSE 4
We look forward to the second coming,
When every knee will bow before our King,
When God will live among His chosen people,
and death will die with mourning, sin, and pain.
