A crowded room
Imagine that you enter a crowded room, a party. People are gathered round in groups, talking, laughing, giving each other presents. The room is decorated, music fills the air, along with smells of tasty and delightful food.
You ask what the occasion is, and you are told that it’s someone’s Birthday. You look around, and up, near the front, there is one, set apart, and alone. You watch for a while, as a few go up to briefly say hello, share a story, or talk to the one, yet most quickly turn and walk away.
You also notice that none of the presents have been given to the one whose birthday it is. How must they feel??? What do they think???
Christmas is the birthday of Christ. How can we alter the picture??? What presents (offerings) does the honored one desire? What should the celebration of his birth look like?? Are we crowding him out??? Ignoring him??? Giving him the honor that he is due???
