Glorify Yourself through my pain

April 16, 2008

I wrote this as part of an assignment for Systematic Theology II.
Listen to audio

When I walked through the valley alone and afraid,
shaken, and hurt, and confused,
Why Lord, why, did You lead me there?
Why did I suffer those wounds?

When the weight of the shadow was crushing my soul,
caught in darkness and sin and disgrace,
I begged You to lift up my shattered heart,
Sought strength to believe in Your name.

When I cried out from my knees,
with desperate pleas,
Oh Father, take this cup from me -
You left it in my hands,
but gave me strength to stand,
as I struggled you helped me bear the strain.

While I wouldn’t have chosen what You chose for me,
I cling to the powerful truth,
Though I face trials of many kinds,
I share in my suffering with you.

Let my life be a story of how you redeem,
our sin and our troubles and shame,
I am bearing the cost, I will carry my cross,
Glorify yourself through my pain,
Glorify yourself through my pain.
