Day 2 of 7 in 7: Confession’s Lullaby

This one did not come easy… I think the tiredness inspired the style. ;-)

Confession’s Lullaby

Listen Here

Father save me from myself
from my selfish ways
Teach me to place others first
as I live my days

I am weary I am weak
and I make mistakes
though I stumble and fall down
place me on my feet

Help me trust you and obey
To Hear, and then, to do
Help me follow in your steps
Becoming more like you

You are faithful, you are just
You will forgive my sin
I don’t deserve the grace you give
but thank you once again

Day 1 of 7 in 7: Make Grace My Reality

Going to go for 7 in 7! What’s is 7 in 7? see here.

Day 1: Make Grace My Reality

V1, PC, C, V2, PC, C, V3, PC, C, C

Listen Here

How many times have I tried and stumbled,
Working so hard, falling on my face,
Curled in a ball, feeling raw and broken,
trying to hide from my past mistakes.

Your grace is so much better than my reality
Lord give me strength to live the gift of grace You offer me

Your power moves the mountains,
Your might can part the seas
Your hands have formed me from the dust,
So do Your best in me

Your power will not fail me,
I’m pleading with you please
Give me the strength to change my ways
Make grace alive in me
- Change my reality

How many times has my courage left me
Fearing I’d fail, never good enough
Stopping before I had ever started
Controlled by the world, insecure, not tough.

How many times have I mourned my choices
Reliving them over and over again
Replaying the worst of the painful memories
Reopening wounds from way back when

Glorious Day by Casting Crowns

This song is – well, the gospel in song form. Love it.

On those days when the world’s trouble can seem to overwhelm, this is a reminder, that this world is not all there is. Christ, lived, died, and rose again, and with His resurrection, we have eternal forgiveness, and He will return and put all that is wrong back to right.

The trumpet will sound, and He will return – what a glorious day that will be!

Lessons from 1 Peter: Team Care

How can we support and care for each other?

Summary: Love earnestly, zealously, fervently, from a pure heart.  Get rid of evil, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, pride and slander.  Be harmonious, sympathetic,  affectionate, compassionate, humble. Bless one another by serving each other.

You have purified your souls by obeying the truths in order to show sincere mutual love. So love one another earnestly from a pure heart.- 1 Peter 1:22

  • Love earnestly.
  • Love from a pure heart.  Are our motives for caring for others pure? Are we trying to gain favor or praise or position, serving for our own glory? What happens in your heart if others don’t notice your wonderful acts of service?  Are you able to be content in knowing that your Father in heaven  has seen the good things that you have done?
To quote the Believer’s bible commentary, “the exhortation to ‘love one another’  is especially timely for a people undergoing persecution because it is well known that ‘under conditions of hardship, trivial disagreements take on gigantic proportions.’” (2256)

So get rid of all evil and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander. – 1 Peter 2:1

  •  Act rightly towards one another.  Deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander are all bad, because they affect our relationships with others.  Deception kills the trust in a relationship between two people. Hypocrisy makes it hard for others to trust us, when our actions do not match our words.  Envy, yearning for what someone else has, means we are wishing we are someone else or had their posessions, making their life or their possessions an idol, which is not healthy. We can’t have a great relationship with someone if we are worshiping them. Slander, saying things about a person that are not true, is also a relationship killer.

Finally, all of you be harmonious, sympathetic, affectionate, compassionate, and humble. Do not return evil for evil or insult for insult, but instead bless others because you were called to inherit a blessing. – 1 Peter 3:8-9

  • Be harmonious, sympathetic,  affectionate, compassionate, humble. Care for others. Don’t fight and argue, instead, choose to bless.
  • Bless others.  We are to give blessing to others now, as those who will receive blessing from God in the future.

Above all keep your love for one another fervent, because love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without complaining. Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God.- 1 Peter 4:8-9

  • Love with zeal.
  • Show hospitality.  Are we welcoming to one another?  Do we make the new members of the team feel comfortable? Are we caring for the basic needs of each other?
  • Serve one another with your gifts.  Are we using the unique God gifting – the strengths, interests, and passions – that each of us have within us, to serve our team?

… And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. – 1 Peter 5:5

  • Act humbly. The person who is proud takes credit for themselves and their actions.  We are called to boast not in ourselves, but in God alone – it’s through Him that we exist, through Him that all we accomplish can be accomplished.  God is the one who changes hearts, gives us strength and opportunity, enables us to succeed for His glory.

How should these truths change your life? (James 1:22)

Find You on My Knees by Kari Jobe

This is another great song for a rough day.  Often the place that we find God is when we are on our knees, when we have nothing left to offer than our brokenness and our frustration.  God meets us where we are at – even at the end of our patience or faith. He doesn’t leave us thirsty.  God is our source of living water, and he can fill us up again, and give us strength to face another day.
